Wood Welded Butcher Block – Made in Michigan for over 125 years. Discover why wood just works.

After more than a century in business, Michigan Maple Block Co. recently announced that it is ceasing operations. Michigan Maple Block’s closure is expected to be complete by June 30, their news release noted. Although we are deeply saddened by the closure of Michigan Maple Block, we will continue to provide Michigan and Indiana with quality butcher block tops through our other partner brands. With stock and quick ship options from John Boos as well as custom tops from local manufactures, Direct Supply remains the industry’s go to source for butcher block tops.

___

Michigan Maple Block Company, located in Petoskey, Michigan—the heart of hard maple country—is one of the largest and oldest manufacturers of butcher block products in the nation. The success and renown of its Wood Welded® butcher block is due in part to its continuous operation, by one family, for over 125 years. End-grain laminated hard maple butcher block was developed as the practical answer to the needs of the meat cutting industry over 100 years ago. Today, butcher blocks are used for much more than meat cutting. As an accent to painted cabinetry and hard surfaces; Island tops are our most popular residential use. Michigan Maple Block offers both standard and custom size tops in 7 different wood species and 3 different finishes.

Commercially, Butcher block can be used as restaurant tables, bench seating and workbench tops. Michigan Maple’s standard finish on countertops, islands, commercial foodservice tops, workbench tops and locker bench seats is DURAKRYL 102, a proprietary urethane-based satin finish. It is food-safe, resistant to stains and most solvents, and cleans up with warm soapy water. Stubborn spills or stains can be removed with nail polish remover. We offer quick turnaround with our stock offering of maple standard size tops. Working on a large project or custom size? Contact us today for a custom quote!
